In 1990 Susan B. Jones obtained her Juris Doctor, With Distinction, from the University of Kentucky College of Law - where she graduated in the top 10% of her class and she was presented with membership in The Order of the Coif.
Susan’s law practice is exclusively focused on Family Law. She has represented clients in many courts across the state of Kentucky in cases involving divorce, custody, adoption, and domestic violence. In addition, she has practiced extensively in Dependency, Neglect and Abuse court. Her client representation has included participation in countless mediations and she has practiced Collaborative Law. Her work also includes serving as Guardian ad Litem, speaking at Continuing Legal Education seminars and she has written family law articles for the Kentucky Bar Association Bench and Bar. Susan is a member of the American Bar, Kentucky Bar and Fayette County Bar Associations.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Susan graduated cum laude from the University of Louisville with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Thereafter she obtained her master’s degree as a mental health professional from the University of Louisville and she worked with all age groups. In her past work as a mental health professional, she counseled clients with many life issues; including children and families coping with pediatric oncology, adults dealing with substance abuse issues and other mental health issues, and adolescents and children experiencing a variety of emotional / mental health issues.
Ms. Jones’ community involvement has included being a Board Member of the Richmond Square Condominium Board, being an advisory Board Member of Kentucky Ballet Theatre, serving as Treasurer of the Bluegrass Pony Club, being a Board Member of the Bell Court Neighborhood Association, many years of involvement with Fayette County 4H, serving as a member of the Fayette County Foster Care Review Board and providing many years of volunteer work for Kentucky Children’s Hospital during the Rolex Three Day Event.
